So, I Became a Florist...
When I decided to become a florist, I imagined spending my days surrounded by beautiful blooms, creating stunning arrangements, and bringing a little joy into people's lives.
What I didn't realize was that along with being a florist, I'd also become a therapist, emotional support person, garden consultant, designer, matchmaker, delivery driver, horticultural expert, wedding planner, funeral director, marriage counselor, hype girl, and even a cleaning lady—often all in the same day!
Flowers have a way of showing up for life's biggest moments. I've listened to stories of love and loss, helped nervous couples plan their dream weddings, comforted grieving families, celebrated milestones, solved garden mysteries, and occasionally offered life advice while wrapping a bouquet.
Some days I'm designing floral masterpieces. Other days I'm carrying heavy buckets, sweeping petals off the floor, making last-minute deliveries, or reassuring a customer that yes, their plant can still be saved.
Being a florist is so much more than arranging flowers. It's about people, emotions, celebrations, memories, and connections. It's a career that wears many hats—most of which definitely weren't listed in the job description.
And while many of those extra roles don't come with additional pay, they do come with something even better: the privilege of being part of people's lives during moments they'll never forget.
Would I choose it all over again?
Absolutely.
Still my dream job.
